Thursday, June 09, 2005 i am so tired now. it was pretty scary. i was so tired on my way home that i actually fell asleep at the bus stop where i was supposed to change bus. when i woke up i was so disoriented. and i kept wondering where i was, then i realised that i was at the bus stop. looked around and saw 2 middle aged man. then i kinda got scared. so tried really really hard to stay awake.reason why i'm so tired is cos of the stupid course. not that i don't learn anything from the course but i don't agree with so much of what the insturctor said. as with many pple in the grp. and if orientation camp were a learning camp where the main objectives are to instill the core values in the freshies then i don't think i would have chosen to be a facilitator. but when we were briefed on the orientation camp no one mentioned lessons or group disscussions about values and lessons learnt and applications. so i don't quite agree with his definition, should i say, of facilitation. besides, i don't see how the freshies will feel comfortable with us facilitators if we were to remain detached. i mean, think about it, we are one of the first seniors they'll come to know. and if we were to keep ourselves detached, who are they going to approach if they face a situation which none of the freshmen know what to do about. and i'm not saying during the camp itself, i meant after the camp when school's starting or started. they need to feel comfortable enough with us to come to us for help. i mean, i'd obviously wouldn't want any contact with Mr. SS once this course is complete. no way will i willingly look for him for help. so what if he claims to be a good facilitator, i still can't see it in our context. or maybe i'm just blind or resistant to change. i could always just give up being a facilitator. but then that would mean that i've really failed. he would be proven correct. i'd rather do it my way then just give up cos he thinks i'm a failure. he isn't god and he doesn't deserve me bowing down to. sure i'm supposed to learn. but whatever. and reason's i would bother to go tmr is cos i don't exactly like starting something without finishing it. besides, it is required of us to go for the course anyway. of course the course isn't bad. just that i'm not in complete agreement with it. and i don't like it being forced down my throat. |
